When I first set out to do this recording , I had the idea of putting together my version of a garage band .
No one had any concept what the songs sounded like . Chad just came in for a couple of nights and we put the
main framework of the songs down . Jill was even oblivious as to what I wanted , or expected . She came in on her day off and put down the lead guitar tracks you hear on this CD . It all happened over one week , while Maria and I were left with the ominous task of making the recording work . As it turned out , all my fears and uncertainties were unwarranted , for I had had the privilege of working with two of the finest session players one could drum up in lil’ ol Redlands , California . Their talent and passion for playing music bled over into my vision .

This album is a result of that incident .

As for the songs themselves , Cult of Dionysus was an archived tune I salvaged from my last days with the Bad Hair Day . Look up ‘ will to power ‘ by F. Nietzshce and you may get the idea behind the song . We all struggle sometimes .
Try was a favorite of Wanda ‘s that we played live on the Patrick Brayer Radio Archives once . It ‘s an oldie for
me , but I do believe in the positive message which it seems to portray . What else can we do but try ?
'Kelly' I wrote after meeting a homeless girl on State Street in Redlands . A beautiful young redhead who happened to loan me a smoke . It seemed that smoke was all she owned besides the box of Co -co Puffs and the clothes on her back .The song reflects the conversation that we shared , and my hopes that she might take the advice I had seriously .
I never saw her again after that day .

The two covers featured on this album were tough choices for me , but after a trip down to San Diego prior to the recording , it helped to make up my mind . The warm red wine ( written by famed Cindy Walker ) is my attempt at taking an older tune and breathing new life into it . Besides the fact I ‘m a sucker for a good Pinot Noir , Maria and Jill both brought the song into focus . It reminds me of those bands you saw at the Howard Johnson lounges when you were a kid . And vegetable man ? That was a result of playing Syd Barrett tunes to 5th and 6th graders at camp for a year . Having a whole troop of kids walking behind you through the woods singing at the top of their lungs “ Vegetable man , where are you ? “ was pretty damn inspiring . So I have included it here .

Hope you like the works …
